Products

We manufacture two different series. We call them Buena Vista 2 & Buena Vista 1. Both series use the same main frame of 3 1/4" thickness with the same roller system and balancers.

Buena Vista 2 is our standard window utilizing drop in glazing in the fixed portion of the frame and can accommodate glass up to 3/4" thick.

Buena Vista 1 is our upgraded window with individual sash in the main frame providing an equal site line for the glass and has a glass thickness of 1 1/8" allowing for more choices of glass thicknesses and air space for the achievement of better energy and sound ratings. Additionally it will have a self latching lock. BV1 products are in the final stages of development and will be available soon. Watch this website for its introduction.

The four primary product lines provided by Gilwin Company included in our state of the art vinyl building products are sliding windows, fixed windows, single hung windows and sliding glass doors. All windows can be stacked or mulled.

We also bend our own main frames to make half rounds, roundtop fixed windows, circles, quarter rounds, eyebrows, and extended leg eyebrows which can be either fixed or the top of a single hung window.

Glass

Gilwin manufactures its own insulated glass units for use in our windows or to provide to our customer bases. Standard insulated glass units are constructed using "270" Low E, manufactured by Cardinal Glass and separated by a hollow welded aluminum dessicant filled spacer. Insulated units with either an aluminum spacer or SuperSpacer are edge sealed with H. B. Fuller butyl sealant.

Upgrade #1 uses the same glass product while substituting the EdgeTech SuperSpacer Z-Gray in place of the aluminum spacer for improved U value, comfort, and sound performance.

Upgrade #2 uses "366" Low E from Cardinal Glass, along with the Z-Gray SuperSpacer for premium U value, SHGC, comfort, and sound performance.

Fixed Windows

Fixed lite windows can be fabricated for portals of any size up to 6' x 5'6". For larger sizes fixed windows can be mulled or stacked with other fixed or operable windows to achieve the size needed.

Because the insulated glass units are installed from the exterior of the window, we cut notches in the bottom corners of the sill glazing bead to allow any water that would bypass the bead to exit along the outside exterior of the frame.

Note that windows ordered as Buena Vista 1 will have a fixed sash installed into the main frame to complement the operable BV1 windows in the project.

Single Hung Windows (Vertical Sliders)

Our single hung windows operate smoothly, with integrated block & tackle spring balancers that perfectly counter the weight of the vent. Vents normally are ½ the height of the overall window size, but can be customized to meet client needs. Vents taller than 3' in nominal size will require a longer lead time and increased consideration for enhanced balancers.

All mainframe sills are punched with two, hinged, baffled weep holes. Weep openings are offset from the exterior face of the frame to the interior sill channel, reducing potential for water "blowback" intrusion due to wind pressure against the window exterior.

Sliding Windows (Horizontal Sliders)

Gilwin sliding windows have been designed to provide decades of trouble free operation by incorporating a monorail sill track on which roll 4 adjustable concave brass wheels mounted on the bottom of each sliding vent panel .

Like the single hung windows plastic finseal weatherstripping is incorporated around all 4 stiles of the vent, and the vent meeting rail in the mainframe is also weatherstripped to provide double protection at the center of the window where the vent(s) and fixed panel interlock together.

Patio Doors

Gilwin sliding patio doors have a 5 1/4" overall frame thickness and can be assembled in 2, 3, or 4 panel configurations from 5068 up to 16080 OXXO.  Gilwin Patio doors slide directions are easily reversed after installation.

Fixed panels can be either mulled  or stacked with the operating doors.

Sill height is 1 5/8"  with 2 hinged baffled weep holes punched in sill.

Flush fin exterior flange trim is available with your choice of applied to head and jambs only, or on all 4 sides.

A pair of face adjustable rollers with an individual weight capacity of 500 lbs. each is in each sliding panel allowing for extreme ease of operation.

Standard handles sets are in same color as main frame and are "C"  shape in appearance on both interior and exterior components. Keyed lock handle sets are also available and in stock in white finish. Standard patio door screens are steel roll-formed type. Extruded aluminum screens are available as an upgrade.
